A cottage housing development has been proposed by Railroad, LLC for land located at the east end of Railroad Avenue. As proposed, the project would include the following:
Ten cottage units, each approximately 1,500 square feet in size;
One common house, approximately 1,500 square feet in size, and containing a kitchen, dining area, social interaction area and guest room on the second floor;
Common open space throughout the site; and
Clustered parking area with a carport over 10 parking spaces and 3 additional parking spaces.
The project would involve three properties at the east end of Railroad Avenue, RPC #s 52-102-030, 52-102-031, and 52-102-032 (1006 Railroad Avenue). There are no existing buildings on the site. Total site area is approximately 54,425 square feet.
The proposed cottage housing development requires the approval of a special exception from the City Council after review from City staff, boards and commissions. Additionally, approval of a site plan and subdivision (consolidation) application from the Planning Commission is also required.
A site plan and consolidation plan has been submitted and can be reviewed here. The application materials are also available for review at the Development Services counter at City Hall, Suite 300W, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Planning Commission will hold a work session on October 2, 2017 on the site plan and consolidation plat applications. The date for a Planning Commission public hearing on these two applications will be posted here once determined.
The Tree Commission will discuss the site plan at their October 18, 2017 meeting and the Architectural Advisory Board will discuss the site plan at their October 4, 2017 meeting.
