Teen Summer Reading Program

  1. COVID-19 UPDATE: Curbside Pickup & Returns

In response to COVID-19, the library building is closed to the public until further notice. We are offering contactless curbside pickup service, which can also be used to return items.

    Programs & Services While Closed

We continue to offer a wide range of programs and services online. Check our Library at Home webpage or subscribe to our bi-weekly newsletter to stay up to date!
Imagine Your Story 2020
Sign up for Summer Reading online starting June 1 on our new Beanstack website: mrspl.beanstack.org!

How It Works
Sign up and log your books through Beanstack, either on the webpage or through the Beanstack app! Once teens have read a minimum of 5 books and entered them into the log, they are eligible for a free paperback that they can choose themselves from the selected titles listed below. They will also earn a raffle ticket for the Teen prize raffle. The library also offers a Reading Quest for strong readers for an additional raffle ticket if completed.

Prizes

Due to limited space at the trailers and interrupted service due to COVID-19, this year we will be offering a select list of prize books, listed below.

Good Night, Gorilla (board book) by Peggy Rathman
Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale by Marcus Pfister
If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Joffe Numeroff
Biscuit in the Garden by Alyssa Satin Capucilli
Pete the Cat's Train Trip by James Dean
The Titanic by Nancy Ohlin
Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar
The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Stuart Little by E.B. White
Storm Runners by Roland Smith
Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson
Look into My Eyes by Lauren Child
Warcross by Marie Lu

All teens who complete the program will be entered into the raffle for a Kindle Fire HD 8 or gift certificates to local businesses. The Library Foundation provides the prizes for the Teen Raffle.

Programs & Events
Special programs, including performances and workshops held specifically for a teen audience, take place through mid-August. A schedule of events and list of local sponsors is available from the library each year by mid-June. All programs and events are also listed in the Mary Riley Styles Public Library calendar and in the Mary Riley Styles Public Library monthly newsletter.
