- Monday, April 6: Council Work Session (7:30 p.m., Dogwood Room, City Hall)

- Monday, April 27: Council Regular Meeting, budget adoption (7:30 p.m., Council Chambers, City Hall)
The City's budget development process is underway, and the public still has numerous opportunities to learn about the budget overall, dive into the details, ask questions, and make comments and suggestions. The City Council will adopt the budget at the Regular Meeting on April 27. Fiscal Year 2016 starts July 1, 2015 and ends June 30, 2016.
The next three City Council Regular Meetings will include public comment on the budget: March 23, April 13, and April 27 in Council Chambers in City Hall at 7:30 p.m. There is a public comment opportunity at every Regular Meeting, regardless of the topic. (You can comment on anything! It doesn't have to be on the agenda.) To be on the list as a speaker, grab a Speaker Slip from the table just outside Chambers and hand it to the City Clerk (her desk is on the left on the dais) before the meeting starts. Speakers are limited to three minutes.
The next two City Council Work Sessions will focus on the budget: April 6 and April 20 in the Dogwood Room at 7:30 p.m. Work Sessions are always open to the public; however, there is no opportunity for public comment.
There's one more Town Hall on April 11. There will be a presentation from the government and a presentation from the schools, and the floor is opened to Q&A. This is a great opportunity to ask questions!
Can’t Attend Meetings?
If you're not able to attend any of these meetings, you can email the City Clerk (firstname.lastname@example.org
), who will submit it in the official record for the Council. She reads summaries of these comments at the Regular Meetings--e.g., "Jane Smith of 123 Oak St. supports fully funding XYZ project in the budget." Each Council member is given a copy of your email/letter.
You're also welcome to email Council members directly (Directory
), but to be sure they see it and it gets in the official record, it's best to email (or at least CC) the City Clerk.
The proposed budget, presentations, and videos may be viewed at www.fallschurchva.gov/Budget
. City Council Regular Meetings are broadcast live on FCCTV (Cox channel 11, RCN channel 2, Verizon channel 35) and available later on the budget website. Town Halls and work sessions are available later on the budget website, as well.
