The City of Falls Church will be offering a free Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class
on the August 8, 9, 15, and 16 from 6-9PM. The class, taught by nationally certified RAD instructors and City Police Officers, is a women-only class. Women who are 12 years of age and older may sign up for the class.
RAD focuses on teaching awareness, prevention, risk reduction, risk avoidance, and basic hands-on defense training. The RAD system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault by using easy, effective, and proven self-defense tactics. This system of realistic defense provides women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. The class is geared towards women at all levels of ability, experience, and strength.
“I love teaching RAD because I want to help other woman to feel empowered and have the confidence to defend themselves against an attack," said Detective Sharee Janda, RAD instructor. "I don’t want women to feel helpless or scared when they don’t have to feel that way. RAD provides so much, not just self-defense but also the skillset to make their homes, cars and workplaces safer,” said Janda.
If you are interested in registering for the course, please contact Kathleen Dempsey
