Residential areas South of Broad Street
Street Sweeping - South of Broad St.
Monday, June 18, 2018
Residents that live South of Broad St. are asked to move vehicles off of residential streets (if possible) between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19. Street sweeping reduces the volume of pollutants entering local streams through the city's 900 storm drain openings. Parked vehicles reduce the effectiveness of the sweepers because most debris and pollutants accumulate in the gutter pan.
Quiet Sweep will be in the City the week of June 18:
- Areas south of Broad St. – Monday June 18 and Tuesday June 19
- Areas north of Broad St. – Thursday June 21 and Friday June 22
- Commercial areas – evenings through the week (and weekends if necessary)
Schedule is subject to change due to weather and the amount of debris on the streets
Residents are asked to move vehicles off of residential streets between 7
a.m. and 5 p.m., where possible. Parked vehicles reduce the
effectiveness of the sweepers because most debris and pollutants
accumulate in the gutter pan.
Residents can help reduce pollutants in our streams by using a broom,
shovel and dustpan to sweep the gutter pan in front of their residence
when debris accumulates (pollen, leaves, trash, sediment etc.). This is
especially helpful in areas that routinely have cars parked on the
street. Gutter pan debris contains heavy metals and other fine
pollutants so please dispose of debris in the trash, not with yard
waste.
