Collection boxes for several winter/holiday toy and clothing drives are available in the library's vestibule.
Toys for Tots
Donate by December 9
New, unwrapped toys for children and gifts for teens can be donated in boxes in City Hall (300 Park Ave.; main lobby and the Police Department lobby), the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.), and the Mary Riley Styles Public Library (120 N. Virginia Ave.). Donations are due by close of business on Thursday, December 9.
Commerce experts say production and shipping delays may cause this year's holiday shopping to be a little challenging. Get to your favorite toy store now and help these deserving kids and teens! (And don't forget the teens -- they love sports equipment and beauty products, as well as electronics!)
4th Annual Oglala-Lakota Coat Drive
November 12 - December 12
We'll also be running another coat drive (starting November 12) for the Oglala-Lakota residents of Pine Ridge, SD, through the non profit Re-Member.org. Please consider donating winter hooded coats (all sizes), new socks (all sizes), baby blankets, plush animals, hoodies (all sizes), bars of soap (no plastic bottles please), tooth brushes and tooth paste. For additional information on Pine Ridge please visit the non profit Re-Member.org or contact Kamel.email@example.com.
Winter Drive for DMV Refugees
Donate by December 3
Support newly-settled refugees in the DMV area by donating bedding, blankets, and other winter necessities* (hats, gloves, etc) or shopping through the Amazon Wishlist. (Amazon Wishlist items will be directly shipped to CCDA.) This program is coordinated locally by Meridian High School's International Club, Welcoming Falls Church, and Catholic Charities Arlington.
*Bedding must be new per CCDA grant requirement (and please, no king sized bedding). Gloves and hats are such personal items that they should only be new as well.
