Recreation & Parks
Recreation & Parks The Recreation & Parks Department offers a year-round program of recreational and leisure-time activities for all age groups and interest levels. These programs include a variety of classes, athletic leagues, special events, and trips. We sponsor special events throughout the year including the annual Memorial Day Parade & Festival, July 4 Fireworks, the Fall Festival, Holiday Craft Show and numerous other speical events. The Recreation & Parks Department is also responsible for managing and maintaining neighborhood parks and the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn.
The Falls Church Community Center is the main location for the Recreation & Parks Department. The Community Center hosts the majority of our classes and programs. The Community Center is also the location of our business and staff offices.
Upcoming Events
Sunset Cinema- Fridays, September 3, 17 & 24 at 8 p.m. or dusk This annual Sunset Cinema is held in Cherry Hill Park (312 Park Avenue). Free film screenings of various family friendly movies are shown. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets, bug spray, and picnics. In case of inclement weather, screenings will take place at the Falls Church Community Center located next to the park at 223 Little Falls Street.
Fall Festival & Taste of Falls Church- Saturday, September 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual Fall Festival and Taste of Falls Church is held each September in Cherry Hill Park (312 Park Avenue). Features include live entertainment, pony rides, amusement rides, crafters, businesses and civic organizations, and cuisine from City kitchens. The children's activity tent offers face painting and craft projects. Admission is free to the public, but amusement rides require the purchase of one or more tickets. The Fall Festival is held rain or shine!

Any household that has signed up for an activity with Recreation & Parks since Jan. 1, 2006, will have an active account in the database. In order to utilize the online system, all households will need to update current household information to include a valid e-mail address and listed birthdates for family members. Please call 703-248-5077 (TTY 711) or visit the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.) to update your information or create an account.
