City Center
City Center is Falls Church City's landmark urban village project. It is a 22-acre area identified in the Comprehensive Plan and is centered on Maple avenue, north and south of West Broad Street.
City Council unanimously approved Atlantic Realty Companies' proposal for City Center South on Feb. 28, 2008; there are no current development proposals for City Center North.
The City Center South proposal is approximately one million square feet of mixed-use development within a 8.77-acre area bounded to the north by West Broad Street (220 block), to the south by Gibson Street, to the west by Big Chimneys Park, and to the east by South Washington Street.

Development plans are available at the Mary Riley Styles Public Library (120 N. Virginia Ave.), at the Planning Division (300 Park Ave., G04), and online.
City Center South will be built in two phases over five years. The project contains more than 100,000 square feet of retail space that includes a grocery store (Harris Teeter has signed a letter of intent to occupy the space), 90,000 square feet of office, 412 apartments, 16 townhouses, 134 active adult condominiums, a 180-room hotel, and a new bowling facility. Project design, density, height, composition of land uses, special features, parking, and traffic flow are just a few of the issues that the citizens of Falls Church City will be encouraged to weigh in on.
