Application for Employment

The City of Falls Church accepts resumes and/or applications for current listed vacancies only. Each job announcement includes information on how to apply for that vacancy.

Most vacancy announcements will request submission of an application or a current resume and cover letter to Human Resources by mail, 300 Park Ave., Room 102W, Falls Church, VA 22046; fax, 703-531-3385; or e-mail, hr@fallschurchva.gov.

Resumes and applications are reviewed by HR Division staff.  Applications and resumes received that meet qualifications that are relevant to the position are forwarded to the appropriate division.  The division that is hiring for the position will review the forwarded applications or resumes and select applicants for interview; at the time of the interview the applicant is asked to complete an application if one has not already been completed; once the division has completed interviewing it makes a tentative selection and conducts a reference check on that applicant; if the reference check is satisfactory an employment offer is extended.  All employment offers are contingent upon satisfactory results of a criminal history check and drug screen; some positions have additional requirements such as a pre-employment physical examination, a satisfactory driving record, etc.

All permanent appointments have a six-month probationary period.
