Sheriff's Office

Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff is a state constitutional officer elected by City of Falls Church citizens. The Sheriff's Office provides court security and prisoner transportation in addition to serving civil warrants and legal notices, as mandated by the Virginia Constitution and the Virginia Code. The Office works in conjunction with the Police Department in the issuance of traffic summonses, traffic control, special events, and training exercises. The Sheriff's Office also provides fingerprinting services for residents, child safety seat checks, and child fingerprinting, by appointment only.

The Sheriff's Office has one full-time Chief Deputy, two full-time Deputies, and an Administrative Assistant who works 35 hours a week. On court days, five part-time and 15 auxiliary deputies are available to provide courtroom security for the General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
