Management responsibility for taxes in the City of Falls Church falls under three offices: the Office of the Treasurer mails and collects taxes, the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue handles personal property tax assessments and assists with income tax filing, and the Office of the Real Estate Assessor determines the current market value of taxable and tax exempt properties as of January 1 each year. The City Council determines the annual tax rate every spring.
