This portion of Berman Park, which runs from Irving Street to Kent Street, required 2 rain gardens to receive drainage from surrounding land and structures. The project included partial reconstruction of the walking trail, including a boardwalk made from recycled plastic milk cartons, which allows pedestrians to cross over the rain garden near the southern play area.
The southern rain garden addressed an area where water pooled along the walking path and surrounding low-lying areas. The northern rain garden addressed an area where water frequently pooled. Some areas surrounding both were sloped to bring the most drainage possible to each rain garden.
