Reporting Tree-Related Emergencies
Report downed power lines and power outages to
Dominion Virginia Power
at 1-888-667-3000.
To expedite service restoration, all customers without power must call so Dominion Virginia Power has an accurate count of outages. Do not assume your neighbor has called.
Report downed trees on public property (streets, schools, parks) or those that may damage public property, by calling the Falls Church Police Department at 703-241-5050.
In accordance with state law, any trees in conflict with power lines must be first cleared by Dominion Virginia Power. The utility company's tree crews are specifically trained to work around power lines. They also have direct communication with Dominion Virginia Power on power status to ensure that it is safe to perform the work. Once the area has been cleared by Dominion Virginia Power, the City can then safely remove the tree out of the right-of-way.
Removal of trees on private property is the responsibility of the homeowner.
