COVID-19 Update: Recreation and Parks Programs and Facilities

The Community Center is open for programming but remains closed to the general public/drop-in use. Only staff and registered program participants are currently permitted in the Falls Church Community Center at this time. The Senior Center and Teen Center also remain closed for drop-in use.

A variety of indoor, outdoor, and virtual programs are currently taking place as part of our Fall Program offerings. The program guide includes events, fall classes, youth sports, and outdoor and virtual senior programs,

Camp programs are planned for FCCPS Professional Days and seasonal breaks. A listing of programs and additional information can be found on our School Breaks Camp page.

The City is planning for our winter youth basketball program. Click here to learn more about what this season will look like and what new precautions will be in place. 

All City parks and amenities are open. The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department does not have the resources to disinfect park equipment and facilities to eradicate tracings of COVD-19. The best ways to avoid contracting or spreading COVID-19 are to wear a face covering, stay six feet from others, wash your hands often, and stay home if you are sick.

Picnic Shelter rentals are permitted as of July 15, 2020. At this time, we are not permitting any indoor rentals. Learn more about booking a picnic shelter here.

The City has extended the Temporary Commercial Activity Permit program to March 1, 2021.  

The Cherry Hill Farmhouse is currently closed to the general public. Visit the Cherry Hill Farmhouse virtually for museum at-home activities or take a virtual tour.

Welcome to Recreation & Parks!
The Recreation and Parks Department offers a year-round program of recreational and leisure-time activities for all age groups and interest levels. These programs include a variety of classes, athletic leagues, special events, and trips.

We sponsor special events throughout the year including the annual Memorial Day Parade and Festival, July 4 Fireworks, the Fall Festival, and Holiday Craft Show. 

The Recreation and Parks Department is also responsible for managing and maintaining neighborhood parks and the Cherry Hill Farmhouse and Barn.

The Falls Church Community Center is the main location for the Recreation and Parks Department. The Community Center hosts the majority of our programs and is the location of our staff offices.
