About

The Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park is one of only two parks of its kind in the City of Falls Church. Crossman Park and the Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park both offer a wide array of natural features. Heavily wooded with a stream running through it, the Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park provides residents a unique opportunity to enjoy nature in an otherwise heavily urbanized area.

Understory Restoration Project

The Earth Sangha, in partnership with the City of Falls Church, Virginia, established a naturalized vegetative understory adjacent to the newly-restored Coe Branch stream in Howard E. Herman Stream Valley Park. Volunteers worked with Earth Sangha and City staff last year to install 5,300 native plants and inhibit the reestablishment of invasive species on approximately 2 acres of denuded, riparian forest.
