Stormwater Ordinance

The City Council unanimously adopted a new Stormwater Management Ordinance in response to a Virginia General Assembly mandate that all local governments adopt new stormwater regulations in order to reduce the amount of "non-point source" pollution and water volume flowing to the Chesapeake Bay.

The stormwater ordinance (TO14-04) was developed in conjunction with our stormwater policy consultant, AMEC, and was reviewed by the City Attorney. The Planning Commission, Environmental Services Committee, and Tree Commission all supported the ordinance.
