About the Community Float Challenge

Who can participate: Floats can be made with neighbors down the street or in your apartment/condo complex, your family, or just a group of friends. This year, we’re opening the challenge up to community groups, such as school clubs, church groups, book clubs, knitting circles, or your favorite Falls Church Meetup group!

What should the float be about: Memorial Day is about remembering our nation’s fallen heroes. Create a float that shows your patriotism. Floats don’t have to be elaborate: they can be simple, with materials you already have.

When is the parade: The 39th annual Memorial Day Parade is on Monday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. Rain or shine. Line-up begins at 1:00 p.m.

Where is the parade route: Parade route travels down Park Ave. between West St. and Little Falls St. Parade line-up spot will be sent along with confirmation details.

Why should we participate: Because you love The Little City! And it’s a great way to bond with friends and meet your neighbors! Plus, the most patriotic float wins a party hosted by the Recreation and Parks Department!
